Questioning The Elements

Questioning The Elements is the result of a commission by SPIKE Alternative Cello Festival 2019. 

The brief was to create a work for the opening night of the festival, in the Workman's Club, Dublin. 

The aim was to consider the physical elements of the cello and to reference the methods which are used by the performer to create sound. 

Elements such as 'wood', 'metal',  and 'air', alongside possible methods such as 'slow scrub', 'voice', and 'tap', became the inspiration for a text based animated gamescore. 

Vocal phrases were provided by Mary Barnecutt, Anthony Fox, Martina Murray, Raven, Nicole Rourke and Yue Tang.
